Before I show you how you can get your own soft mod wii, let’s discuss the difference between softmodding and hardmodding.

A soft mod is the preferred method of video game modding. When you soft mod your wii or any other device, you are modifying it using software. There are many advantages to doing it this way.

The primary advantage is that it’s relatively easy to do. Even though you can make a mistake and wind up with a Nintendo Wii brick, there are enough tutorials where you probably won’t have to.

Also, if there are updates to the software it’ll be fairly easy to update your modded wii also.

But there are some dangers.

Like I’ve already mentioned, you may very mess the whole thing up and render your video game console useless.

Also, Nintendo and the other video game manufacturers are also updating their firmware to detect the latest modding software and hacks.

And finally, modding your wii, even a soft mod, will void your warranty.

A hard mod is when you perform surgery on your wii.

That’s when you actually change your video games hardware. This it typically done by opening up your wii and installing a mod chip.

Personally, I don’t recommend this method. The chances of making a mistake and destroying your Wii are just too great. One little slip up, and you’ve got yourself a three hundred dollar plastic brick.

Soft Mod Wii Tutorial

Well now that you know the difference between a soft mod and a hard mod, let me show you how to do a soft mod. If at any time, you feel this all too complex, you may want to get this detailed yet easy-to-understand product that will have your Wii unlocked in minutes.

The steps to soft modding your Wii are straightforward:

First you download letter bomb. This is going to put Homebrew on your Wii. Download letterbomb to an SD card, then load it onto your Wii.

Then you install and activate Homebrew on your Wii.

Then you download Hack Pack which gives you a few more pieces of software to improve your gaming experience. Install Hack pack onto your Wii using the same procedure as Letterbomb.

Once all the software is installed, your next step is to configure the settings in Homebrew. There are lots of options, but the most important thing to remember is that you don’t want Nintendo rendering your console useless with a future update.

Therefore, make sure you adjust your settings to prevent automatic updates.

After that, you’re all set up.

It’s very easy to mod the wii. It can be a long, drawn-out process, but if you know what you’re doing, you can be playing perfectly modded wii in no time.

The most popular software used to mod Wii’s the Homebrew. Homebrew is a free downloadable software that used to change your wii’s functioning so it can play unauthorized software. There are a lot of steps to modding the console, so it’s advised you follow any tutorial carefully.

In essence, the procedure is rather simple:

First you have to download the “unauthorized software” you intend to use. I’m not going to tell you how to do that; if you’ve come this far then you should know where to go to get a wii game. If you don’t just look for a video tutorial on Youtube; it’s all laid out there.

When you download the games, you’ll be downloading a bunch of other software that will you’ll need for the mod. You’re also going to need an SD card and USB drive as well. These are for storing the games and software and transferring them from your computer to your wii.

So you download the games, store them on your SD card or USB, then transfer them over to your wii.

Then you download the Homebrew software, save that to your SD card or USB also (you should either clear the data on the storage device or use a new one) then transfer that to your Wii.

After that, it’s a simple process of going back and forth and transferring the necessary software to complete the Wii mod.

Since this is a hack job, there may be some glitches in the games and software as you download them. So you might have to spend some time searching Google and forums to figure out how to fix them. But you’ll find the information pretty easily if you’re patient.

In fact, if you really want to get the most authentic experience from your wii mod, you can also download the cover art for your game as well. This adds to the fun as there are all sorts of diverse covers to choose from for many games.

Check out this great wii modding video tutorial and follow along. You’ll see that it’s really not all that difficult to mod your wii with Homebrew.

But if you find it a little too confusing, or if you’re just not comfortable with the procedure, I highly suggest you get an automated product that allows you to mod the wii in minutes. Not only will you be able to play any modern Wii games, you’ll also be able to play lots of classic Nintendo games on your wii also.

Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

It is essential you have the latest Wii 4.3 mod. There have been many ways to mod a wii but the game manufacturer keeps sending out these updates to block the mods. Therefore, you have to keep up with the latest modding techniques.

You might get some people who advise you to use the “Twilight Princess” technique. But that’s out of date. Nintendo has long since created updates that disable any mod you might have gotten from there.

The most recent update released by Nintendo, as of the writing of this article, is version 4.3. This version blocks and disables just about all previous mods that hackers came up with.

Can I Still Use A Mod Chip?

Yes, you can mod your Wii with a mod chip, but I don’t recommend it. I just don’t like the idea of performing surgery on my Wii. If it’s up to me, I’d rather load up some software instead.

Another reason I don’t like using a chip is the time and expense. It can take a couple of hours to actually install the chip. But before you even get that far, you have to order one since they don’t sell them at your local electronics store.

You might have to wait a good two or three weeks before your chip arrives.

Mod chips are not terribly expensive, but they aren’t really cheap either. They cost an average of $45.

That’s why I suggest you use the Homebrew Channel soft mod technique. The Homebrew channel can be installed in a few minutes and is absolutely free.

This trick exploits a flaw in the Wii’s messaging system and allows you to load the Homebrew channel using a software called “Letterbomb.”

Homebrew also allows you to play games on your Wii from an SD card or USB flash drive. Which of course makes everything a whole lot more fun.

And the best part is that it’s still working for the most recent 4.3 update.

How Can I Get My 4.3 Wii Modded?

There are lots of tutorials all over the internet on how mod your Wii. The problem is, a lot of them are outdated.

I’ve found a lot of tutorials still teaching the old Legend of Zelda trick. That is not going to work anymore.

And I’ve already mentioned why I don’t like using a mod chip.

In my honest opinion, it’s best you get a really good tutorial and do it on your own.

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. If you try to use a free online Wii mod tutorial…well expect a free online tutorial.

Or you can pay about $30 for a really good, detailed, and easy video tutorial with lots of add-ons and extra stuff.

And don’t think that this is only for those who want the Wii 4.3 mod. Even if you have an earlier firmware version, these tutorials will help you turn your Wii loose.

Unlock tons of potential from your Wii and start having the time of your life.

If you’ve read any of my other articles, you know I don’t like the Wii chip mod technique. I think it’s a little too difficult and the dangers are too risky.

That’s why I generally suggest using Homebrew Channel, also known as a Wii soft mod. But there may be times when you might want to install a mod chip in your Wii. This is what’s known as a hard mod.

The primary reason you may want to hard mod your Wii is if you messed up the soft mod. Even though it’s fairly simple to mod your wii using Homebrew, it is possible to make a mistake.

If you don’t install the right software in the right order, you’ll turn your Wii into a fancy plastic brick.

That’s why I encourage you to get a qualified, well-known, highly-endorsed tutorial instead.

But if you did accidentally disable your Wii, then you might be forced to go the Wii chip mod route.

How Do I Install The Mod Chip?

There are lots of tutorials online on how to do this. The procedure involves the following steps.

First you have to actually purchase the mod chip. It’s absolutely crucial that you get the right chip for your Wii. Different consoles have different security chips so you have to make sure you get the right mod chip to override your Wii’s security.

To do this, you may want to do some research on Google or in Hacker forums.

Once you have the chip, open up your Wii using a regular screwdriver. There are a lot of hidden screws, so you may also want to use a razor or other sharp object to remove the rubber pieces covering them.

After you’ve removed all the screws, carefully take off the outer Wii cover. The DVD drive is being held down by four screws. Unscrew the DVD drive from the motherboard and unclip the power cord and ribbon cable.

Then you simply place your Wii mod chip over the security chip and press it firmly into place. Reattach the drive to the motherboard, connect the ribbon cable and power cord and test it out.

If the system turns on with no problem, then you’ve done everything right. From that point you only have to put your Wii back together and you’re all set.

I must repeat, I do not necessarily recommend using a hard mod. It’s much better for you to soft mod your Wii and preferably with a good tutorial. But if you’ve disabled your Wii, then a modchip may be the only way to go.

Where Can I Learn How To Mod A Wii?

Discovering how to mod a wii is a great skill. First of all, the Nintendo Wii is a great console. It has lots of cool functions and surprised many people when it first came out.

Unfortunately, the corporate people at Nintendo want to make money and the best way they can do that is by selling you Wii games. That’s all good, but these games can run as high as $50 a pop.

If you’re like me and just want to play a bunch of cool games on the wii without spending a fortune, you’re going to want to hack your wii so it can play unlimited games. This may sound a little sneaky, but it’s hey, it’s your machine.

The first you should know is that modding your Wii is perfectly safe. You don’t have to open it up and mess with the insides. You don’t need a sodering gun. You don’t need to have a degree in electrical engineering.

All you really need to mod your wii is patience, a computer, an internet connection and some type of storage device. A flash drive or SD card would do.

Is Modding A Wii Safe?

Modding a wii is 100% safe. You won’t destroy your wii. You won’t void your warranty. You won’t lose all your games and saved information.

If, you do it right.

If you’re the enterprising sort and you want to learn how to mod a wii on your own, then keep reading the articles in this website and you’ll discover lots of ways to do so.

But if you’re scared you might screw something up, then it may be best you try a product that will guide you through the entire process.

At least, that’s what I suggest.

Click here for an inexpensive Wii modding tool.

Can I Play Old Nintendo Games on My Modded Wii?

A lot of us grew up in the 1980′s and 1990′s with the Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and the Super Nintendo and the Nintendo 64. These were all great game consoles that a lot of people loved.

Fortunately, with your Wii properly modded, you can play a lot of these games on your new system. It doesn’t matter which firmware update you have.

Well, it does matter a little. The point is, it’s easy to update your firmware so you can play almost ANY Nintendo game (and a several games from other companies) on your Wii.

So, if you’re ready to get your hands a little dirty, let’s go ahead and take your Wii to the next level.

Below is one video that gives a pretty detailed tutorial on Wii modding. It’s a little complex, but nothing the average gamer can’t handle.

This video gives a lot of detail about hacking your wii but once again, it might be a little intimidating for a lot of people. That’s why I highly recommend you go with this product if you don’t think you can handle it yourself. I mean, you’re talking about unleashing the full power of your Wii for less than $30 bucks, I don’t see how you can pass this up.

So what are you waiting for? Whatever your preference, whether you want to mod your wii on your own or use a product, get to it. Your games are waiting!
